A heavy downpour that lasted more than two hours in the city on Monday evening flooded the busy streets and threw life totally out of gear.
Traffic jams were witnessed at several major intersections as vehicles tried to negotiate the roads that turned into ponds. The commuters were stranded at many places and had to virtually wade through knee-deep water to reach their destinations.
As usual, the low-lying areas of the city like Acharya Vihar, Jayadev Vihar, Krishna Towers and Iskcon Temple and many other areas were waterlogged much to the chagrin of the residents, who questioned the status of the Smart City.
To make matters worse, darkness engulfed many areas due to frequent power cuts.
