A three-member team of the District Press Club, Nuapada met the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) on Monday and discussed about deteriorating health services in the Sunabeda plateau of the district.
Scribes Ajit Panda, Tapan Dash and Sanjay Tiwari raised the questions on non-functioning of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Sunabeda due to absence of the doctors and non-availability of other health functionaries.
“We also appraised the CDMO about non-availability of medicines and immunisation services for women during their pregnancy and about collection of user’s fees from pregnant women for
transportation to the PHC for institutional delivery,” they said. The CDMO directed his officials to rush to Sunabeda for spreading the message about the Janani Sishu Surakshya Yojana (JSSK) where
all services including transportation, blood transfusion, medicines etc are provided free of cost.
The people’s committee formed at Panchayat-level at Sunabeda for looking after the management of the ambulance has been informed to spread awareness within people about free transportation. “The State Government posted doctors last year but no one joined in Nuapada. We conduct health check up camps as Sunabeda in every two months,” the CDMO said.
