Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, who visited the Kandhamal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) on Friday, expressed his dissatisfaction over the operation and service rendered by doctors at the hospital.
He said patients don’t get proper attention at the hospital. Especially patients coming from rural areas are ignored. The Minister advised the hospital authorities to make a proposal through the NRHM for digital X-ray, ultrasound and ambulance service in remote areas with network. Nayak also advised the CDMO to take steps to check the death rate of newborn babies and pregnant women. He also suggested for installation big size tanks to meet water scarcity problem.
It is alleged that the attitude of doctors towards patients is not appropriate. In every case, they refer patients to Brahmapur. There must be certain rules for referring patients to other hospitals, said a local. The local people demanded that the Minister look into the matter seriously and take steps accordingly.
Among others, Health Secretary Arti Ahuja and Kandhamal Collector Reghu G were present.
