During the visit of Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kisore Das here, a delegation of Raghunathpalli BJD unit under the leadership of State council member Sudhir Sundar Ray handed over a memorandum demanding a medical college in Raghunathpalli Assembly segment.
In justification of the demand, they said that the State Government has been emphasizing on good health services to every citizen of the State. That is why in last one decade many medical colleges and super specialty hospitals have been opened in different districts. Similarly, with the support of WODC, a medical college (Hi-Tech Medical College) has been set up in Rourkela. But the MCH has grossly failed to cater to the minimum health needs of the people.
That is why there is resentment among the people. Besides, the then SAIL Chairman had promised to the CM in 2012 and the Prime Minister had declared for upgradation of the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) to a medical college in 2015. But both the assurances have not been fulfilled as yet. Sources said there is no agenda of SAIL, RSP for the project. Even the health services in IGH are worsening day by day. So, a medical college in the Steel Township is badly needed, they argued.
Raghunathpalli MLA Subrat Tarai was also present with the Minister.
