Concerned over the recent series of attacks on doctors, the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department has urged the Home Department to ensure safety for all doctors and other medical staffs working in the Government hospitals across the State.
H&FW Secretary Arti Ahuja has written a letter to the Principal Secretary of the Home Department in this regard.
“It has been reported that doctors and medical staffs have been misbehaved and attacked in some health centres on negligence and wrong treatment pleas during last couple of months. These incidents have made them feel unsafe and frightening. Hence, all police stations should be directed to ensure safety for them,” an official release said quoting Ahuja’s letter.
The letter also stated that the Home Department has been suggested to ask police stations to strictly follow Medicare Regulation-10, which has been promulgated since 2009 to check attacks on doctors and other health workers and violent activities in Government medicals.
