BEO asked to probe charge

The headmistress of a primary school of lahunipada was alleged to be stealing rice packet from school meant for midday meal (MDM) of the students. Sources said Rangamatia Primary School headmistress Santilata Naik on July 27 last, which was a Sunday, allegedly had opened a room of a school where rice packets had been stored. She was lifting the packets, when the villagers nabbed her.

Soon, the villagers informed about the incident to the school managing committee, following which a meeting was held. It was decided that the school would be locked till the case was resolved. After getting information, Cluster Resource Center Coordinator BK Biswal reached at the school and told Naik to return the rice she had stolen and urged the villagers to open the school. Naik had agreed to oblige but later she did not do it. On August 26, the villagers again asked Naik to return the rice but she allegedly refused.

Consequently, the villagers lodged a written complaint before BDO Prasant Kumar Panda, who forwarded the complaint to Block Education Officer Alhadini Naik for probe.
