The Orissa High Court on Tuesday slapped an interim stay on the appointment of teachers of the Ravenshaw University here but allowed the university authorities to go ahead with the teachers’ selection process.
The university in February had invited applications from candidates for appointment of 144 posts of teachers in different categories of lecturer, assistant professor and professor. On the basis of this, the interview of the aspiring candidates had begun on Tuesday.
However, challenging the advertisement, a batch of writs was filed in the High Court stating several anomalies in it and of violation of UGC norms. A Division Bench of the HC headed by Chief Justice Vineet Saran passed the interim order.
It may be mentioned that the HC in September last had quashed an advertisement of the university seeking to fill up 114 posts of the teachers. The HC had then ordered the university to make a fresh advertisement in four weeksand complete the recruitment process in next four weeks.
