The Orissa High Court on Friday directed the State Government not to go ahead in implementing a circular of the School and Mass Education Department on April 26 pertaining to the disengagement of Shiksha Sahayaks without the leave of the court.
Adjudicating a petition filed by 29 Shiksha Sahayaks, Justice SN Prasad gave the direction after issuing notice the Government to file its counters to the petition. School and Mass Education Secretary Ranjana Chopra last month had issued the circular to district Collectors to disengage the Shiksha Sahayaks in their districts, who have failed to submit their Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) pass certificates by March 31, 2013. Challenging the circular, Sashmita Jena of Jharsuguda and 28 other Shiksha Sahayaks have approached the High Court urging it to quash the circular as it is contrary to the resolution of the Government and as well as the instructions issued under the advertisement published by the Government on December 2011 for engagement of 17,543 Shiksha Sahayaks across the State.
