The Odisha High Court on Thursday restrained the State Vigilance Directorate from arresting the wife and parents of miner Deepak Gupta till September 18.
The interim relief to the family members of the fugitive miner came when the HC adjudicated a petition filed by Gupta pleading to quash the Vigilance FIR against him and his family members in March. Appearing for the petitioner, lawyer Manoj Mishra sought interim protection for the family members saying Gupta’s wife and parents were not involved in illegal mining as claimed in the FIR. Justice BK Nayak directed the Vigilance police not to arrest the wife and parents of Gupta till September 18, Mishra informed.
