The Orissa High Court on Friday rejected the bail plea of NGO Good News India Managing Director (MD) Fayaz Rehman in connection with sexual harassment at a shelter home in Beltikiri in Dhenkanal district.
Besides, the court also turned down the bail application of NGO assistant director Udit Lima.
Both Rehman and Udit were arrested in December 2018 for allegedly sexually exploiting girl inmates at the shelter home run by the Good News India at Beltikiri.
Rehman, the prime accused in the case, had moved the High Court seeking bail on December 19 following his arrest by the Dhenkanal Sadar Police based on a complaint lodged by District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Anuradha Goswami.
Sources said the shelter home was being operated for the last two years without registration under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
