The Odisha High Court on Wednesday refused to grant a stay on the operation of its order pertaining to the Odisha Olympic Association (OOA) passed last week.
The court on Saturday had asked the State Government to take possession of encroached Government land adjoining the Barabati Stadium. The court had also asked the Crime Branch to investigate into the alleged fraudulent activities of the OOA.
The OOA approached the High Court in a miscellaneous petition to grant stay on the immediate operation of its order.
The Government objected to the OOA’s petition, saying that soon after the court order, the Cuttack district administration on Sunday took possession of the encroached land and the properties on it.
The Government also informed the court that the Crime Branch too have made initial exercises to begin its investigation as it is supposed to submit its report within three months. Justice BP Ray, who had delivered the Saturday order, refused to grant stay and disposed of its petition.
