HC refuses to buy reasons for Jaya's sudden demise

Both the Centre and the Tamil Nadu Government came under severe criticism by the Madras High Court on Thursday for not making public the details of the factors that led to the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

A vacation bench consisting of Justices S Vaidyanathan and V Parthipan asked the Union and State Governments whether the court should order the exhumation of Jayalalithaa’s body to know the truth behind her death. The Bench was harsher on the Union Government, which, it said, was not revealing the mystery behind the death of the former Chief Minister.

“We are told that representatives of the Central Government had visited the hospital regularly and are in the know of things.

Still, what is the reason for this mysteryIJ” asked the bench.

Accepting a public interest litigation filed by PA Stalin,a primary member of the AIADMK, justice Vaidyanathan said there were many doubts among the people regarding the death of Jayalalithaa.
