The Odisha High Court on Tuesday refused to grant anticipatory bail to two employees of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) project of Balangir, who are booked under several sections of IPC by the local police for bungling and misappropriation of huge funds.
Justice BK Nayak rejected the advance bail applications of former SSA accountant Jethu Sahu and former cashier Daktar Sahu. Both the former employees of the project are on the run ever since the Balangir town police registered cases against them three months ago. According to reports, both the employees forging signatures of some district project coordinators withdrew crores of rupees from the bank.
They continued this activity for nearly four years but it came to light in May this year when an employee of the bank suspected them and brought it to the notice of the SSA authorities. The SSA authorities then stumbled upon huge misappropriation of money and lodged a police complaint. Acting upon the FIR, the police registered cases under Sections 409, 467, 471, 120 (B) and 34 of IPC against the duo. Both of them, however, went underground and the police are yet to nab them.
