HC quashes CCB chief dismissal

Published on:

The Orissa High Court on Thursday quashed the order of dismissal of Balangir District Central Cooperative Bank (CCB) president laxman Kumar Meher passed by the local Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies (DRCS) in June this year.

Justice Biswanath Rath allowing the petition of Meher reinstated him to the post to which the Congress leader was elected in March 2015 defeating the BJD’s Tapaswini Meher by a margin of one vote in the 15-member council.

“My dismissal order was passed in an arbitrary and hasty manner and the same was politically motivated,” said an elated Meher after the High Court verdict.
