HC orders for 2nd JEE to fill up vacant seats

For the fifth year in a row, the Odisha Private Engineering Colleges’ Association (OPECA) was successful in forcing the State Government to hold a second Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to fill up the vacant seats by taking the High Court route.

The Orissa High Court on Thursday ordered the Government to hold a second JEE of the year to fill up huge vacancies of B. Tech, MBA and MCA seats in both Government and private engineering colleges.

Adjudicating a petition of the OPECA, a Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Vineet Saran, however, asked the Government to hold the supplementary examination only to fill up the vacant seats in the reserved categories.

Accordingly, the Government was asked to issue a notification for the examination by August 5 and complete the entire admission process by August 14.
