HC lawyers urge police to end probe soon

Published on:

Alleging that a conspiracy has been hatched to lower the dignity of lawyers in public, the Orissa High Court Bar Association on Saturday urged the police to quickly complete the investigations into the alleged case of molestation of a woman police inspector in the High Court premises and clear the air over the matter that has adversely impacted the lawyer-police relationship.

At a general body meeting of the association here, the lawyers unanimously decided to give an ultimatum to the city police. “We have asked the city police to complete the investigations soon and file the final report in the court,” informed association secretary Umesh Chandra Beura.

He added that the bar members would again meet on Monday morning to chalk out their next course of action.

Unconfirmed sources indicated that the lawyers may go on an indefinite boycott of courts demanding early submission of the final report of the case.

The police have booked two Government Advocates in connection with the case. Sources indicated that the video footages of the alleged incident would be sent for forensic tests.
