HC lawyers abstain from CJ court

Published on:

Members of the Orissa High Court Bar Association on Tuesday abstained from attending the court of the Chief Justice.

During lunch time, an extraordinary emergency meeting of the association unanimously resolved to abstain from the court of the Chief Justice henceforth.

The abstention from the court of the Chief Justice is reportedly to be for an unspecified period.

The bar’s decision followed alleged unsympathetic attitude of the Chief Justice towards lawyers and poor litigants who come to the court out of compulsion and not out of choice.

After the abstention of the lawyers, the Chief Justice held court after lunch break for a few minutes and then held a meeting with other judges.

The bar members appeared to be in quite an agitated mood.
