The Orissa High Court on Thursday granted an interim relief to fugitive police inspector Surendra Nayak asking the Baleswar police not to arrest the suspended officer till further orders.
Calling for the case diary (CD), Justice Shatrughna Pujahari adjourned the hearing on the anticipatory bail application of Nayak till the CD is submitted, informed Nayak’s counsel PK Parhi.
Nayak was apparently involved in a racket dealing with illegal trade in Hanuman coins and was summoned by the Malkangiri district police while probing a link.
Nayak however, feigning ill was admitted in the Baleswar district hospital from where he left against medical advice (lAMA).
Subsequently the Baleswar SP held back his pay and the State DGP placed him under suspension for unauthorised absence in his duties.
