The Orissa High Court in a case filed by lawyer and activist Er Debashisha Hota, directed the Central Government to take a decision within 3 months about inclusion of Vidya Tatwam Padhhati in the New Educational Policy(NEP) and laying down the curriculum and the evaluation procedure for elementary education in conformity with the values enshrined in the Constitution.
Here it is noteworthy that, in a seminar for value-based educational system, Uttar Pradesh Barabanki District Sidhhor Tahsil based Sadanand Tatwagyan Parisad’s Mahatma Kamal, Mahatma Dilleswarananda, Mahatma Abid Alam Khan, Mahatma Dasarath, Mahatma Sibananda, Mahatma Mahendrananda, Mahatma Sewananda, Mahatma Sudarshan, Nepal Patel and Kapil Sharma explained necessity of teaching according to Vidya Tatwam Padhhati.
They expressed their concerns since the Government did not implement Vidya Tatwam Padhhati in its New Education Policy (NEP) despite a three- month- long dharana by the Parisad at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar during 2015.
Hota filed a case in the HC on August 21. Justice Biraja Prasanna Satapathy listened to the arguments of Hota.
Hota said that the NCTE till date had not set up a curriculum and evaluation procedure for development of values in a child. Therefore, when the child become Major, most of them are liar, violent, agitated, uncooperative, dishonest, disrespectful and unkind. And due to this, the existence of human society is in danger.
After hearing the case, the court directed Hota to move an appropriate application before the Central Government and also directed the Central Government to take a lawful decision within three months.
