HC defers TV channel owner's bail hearing

Published on:

A Vacation Bench of the Odisha High Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing on a bail application filed by a local television channel proprietor Manoj Dash to October 22.

Dash was arrested by the CBI last month for his alleged links with Artha Tatwa Group CMD Pradeep Sethy and his involvement in the multi-crore chit fund scam.

The vacation court of Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo adjourned the hearing when the CBI counsel appearing in the court sought some more time to produce the case diary relating to Dash. The CBI was, however, directed to produce the papers before the next hearing.

It may be mentioned that Dash along with a newspaper owner Madhu Mohanty was arrested by the CBI on September 14 for similar offences. Earlie, the bail applications of Dash had been rejected by a designated CBI court and the Khordha District and Sessions Court separately.
