The central action committee (CAC) of the bar associations of western Odisha, in a meeting held at Jharsuguda on Thursday to chalk out its plan of action, has decided to tone down the stir for the next 15 days keeping in view of the Ganesh Puja and Nuankhai festival to be celebrated on September 9 and 10, respectively.
Since the mass festival of the State is ahead, the CAC members have decided to soften the agitation for greater interest of the public, said CAC convener Ashok Dash, after completion of the meeting. But the ongoing agitation and relay hunger strike in front of the RDC office at Sambalpur would continue as usual, Dash added.
“If the State Government still delays in intervening in the issue and taking positive steps for establishing a High Court bench in western Odisha, the agitation will be intensified after the festivities are over,” warned Dash. The CAC has further decided to boycott the election process for the urban local bodies (UlBs). Our slogan is ‘no vote if no court,’ said Dash further.
Notably, the agitation of the advocates for the High Court bench has already reached 10th day paralyzing the administrations in the western Odisha districts. On Thursday also, the Government offices, banks, financial organisations and Central Government offices remained closed for the whole day. The advocates have decided to hold an economic blockade on Saturday, informed activist Pradeep Kumar Bahaidar.
