Members of the Balangir Bar Association led by its president Radhakanta Mahakur and supported by the Balangir Action Committee led by Gopalji Panigrahi, social worker lalit Nayak and other unions on Friday staged a dharna before District and Sessions Judge Court and before the Collectorate here demanding establishment of a permanent Bench of the Orissa High Court here.
Bar Association president Mahakur pointed out that prior to the country’s Independence, a High Court was functioning at Balangir.
And as per the provision of the states’ merger treaty, this area should continue to get all the earlier existing facilities. “We demand a permanent Bench of the Orissa High Court here, failing which we will intensify our agitation further,” he said.
