Cracks have appeared in the unity of HC lawyers over the decision to suspend their ongoing boycott of court, and in a significant move, the Odisha HC Bar Association on Tuesday made a partial modification of its Monday’s resolution deciding to continue the strike till Friday.
The association on Monday had decided to suspend the stir from Tuesday. An emergency general body meeting of the association was convened on Tuesday following several requisitions made by members. Some members alleged that the Monday’s resolution was “unjustified” as it lacked consensus of members. Urging the executive members of the association to recall the resolution, some members also proposed to dissolve the Steering Committee and Academic Committee that were formed to spearhead the HC lawyers’ opposition to establishment of permanent HC Benches elsewhere.
