While apprehending threat to his life as the kidnap and murder of five-year-old girl Pari in Nayagarh district has turned out to be a political issue, the district’s Laxmiprasad GP Sarpanch Soumya Ranjan Pradhan got a relief from the Orissa High Court on Thursday.
The court directed the district Superintendent of Police (SP) to take immediate steps if there is any threat perception on Pradhan’s life.
Disposing of a petition filed by Pradhan, Justice CR Dash observed, “From the entire writ petition, there is no whisper about apparent threat except the apprehension.” The court further asked Pradhan to file a detailed representation before the SP within 15 days. “If such a representation is filed, the same shall be disposed of within a week,” the court ordered.
Notably, the Sarpanch has been very vocal in the sensational case and has openly alleged involvement of Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo in the murder incident. “The entire district administration, including the district SP, is trying to botch up the case on the direction of Minister Sahoo,” Pradhan had told media recently.
He had also alleged that Pari was kidnapped and murdered by organ trading sharks of the locality.
