With the Odisha High Court declaring Sai Pragati Assets and Properties limited Chief Managing Director Debasis Mohanty as a proclaimed offender and directing the Commissionerate police to arrest him within two months on August 27 last, Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma directed the Khandagiri police to nab the accused within the timeframe.
Hearing the petition of duped investor of the company Anirudha Mohapatra, the High Court too directed the police to attach his properties.
Notably, Mohapatra was attacked by miscreants engaged by Mohanty last year for raising voice against the fraudulent company. Mohapatra later filed an FIR at Khandagiri police station on August 8, 2012 for action. But after 13 months of registering of the case, police recorded the statement of Mohapatra recently only after the High Court order.
“No body comes to my rescue, neither the police nor the State administration. Despite my FIR and repeated appeals for legal action against Mohanty and his associates who duped crores of rupees from people, the police even did not register the case,” said Mohapatra.
