Protesting the apathetic attitude of the State Government, around 60,000 Havildars, Constables and Sepoys have threatened to resort to agitation from March 15.
The aggrieved cops under the banner of the Odisha Havildar, Constable and Sepoys Confederation have been demanding regularisation of jobs, implementation of revised assurance progressive scheme (RAPS), dearness allowances, and special right allowance at par with the Central police force, abolition of cadre system and reappointment of retired Class IV employees.
“If the Government fails to address our demands by March 15, we will resort to agitation during the ensuing Assembly Budget session,” said organisation president Prashant Kumar Mohapatra in a Press release on Wednesday.
The confederation members threatened to work in empty stomachs. “We will also wear black badges,” Mohapatra added.
They demanded that the Chief Minister fulfil their six-point charter of demands at the earliest.
