The BJD-called Hartal was observed here on Friday with all shops, schools, colleges, Government offices and banks remaining closed.
The BJD workers also detained the Parlakhemundi-Puri express train for an hour.
BJD district president, Parla MlA K Narayan Rao, Municipality Chairman P Krishan, Zilla Parishad chairperson P lata, BJD leader Pradeep Nayak, Radhanath Mishra and laxmi Knata Parida led the hartal in the district.
