Haridwar GRP reaches Puri to quiz Subhash

Published on:

After National Investigation Agency (NIA) Superintendent of Police Prashant Kumar completed his interrogation, a three-member team of the Government Railway Police (GRP) from Haridwar on Tuesday arrived at Puri to quiz train arson accused Subhash Ramachandran.

The GRP team would grill Subash for his alleged involvement in another train fire incident that took place on November 4 at Haridwar.

The team, which requested a Puri court to record the statement of the accused under Section 161 of CrPC, was allowed to quiz the accused, sources said.

Subhash has admitted that in the past too, he was involved in train burning incidents like the one in a Rishikesh-Delhi train at the Haridwar and Gaya railway stations.

Subhash had been brought to Bhubaneswar for interrogation on a fresh three-day remand. However, he was sent back to jail on Tuesday after completion of his remand.

The investigation team refused to disclose whether it conducted the polygraph test of the accused during remand period.

However, neither the State Intelligence Wing nor the GRP is yet to get any tangible lead about the suspected terror link of the arrested accused.

Meanwhile, sources said though the NIA SP has returned to New Delhi after quizzing Subhash, it is yet to be ascertained whether the NIA would take up the case.

Earlier too, Subhash, a resident of Tamil Nadu, was interrogated by Additional DG of Odisha Police (Intelligence) Arun Kumar Sarangi.
