Hanuman temple in B'pur demolished

Published on:

The Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC) held an eviction drive and demolished a major portion of the Panchamukhi Hamunan Temple near the Goutam Cinema here on Friday for widening of the road.

The civic body has been demolishing unauthorised structures in the city every Tuesday and Friday.

Tehsildar Ranjit Parida and BMC Enforcement Officer Taruna Kanta were present during eviction.

A police force was deployed to ensure that no untoward incident took place.

Earlier, the BMC had issued a notice to the temple authorities and indentified the portion that was to be demolished.

It might be mentioned that this was the second instance of demolishing temple premises for widening of roads. Two years ago, the Hanuman temple in Hanuman Bazaar had been demolished.
