The State-level National Handloom Day would be celebrated at Gopalpur in Jajpur on August 7. Handloom, Textile and Handicraft Minister Snehangini Chhuria would attend the event as the chief guest and also inaugurate a tassar block printing unit there.
In recognising the significant importance of handlooms in boosting morale of the handloom weavers, the Union Government has decided to celebrate August 7 as the National Handloom Day every year beginning this year.
Weavers from other parts of the State would participate in the function.
