leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Narasingha Mishra on Sundaywelcomed the prompt actions of the Kandhamal district Collector in making the Gumudumaha village road motorable within a short period of time.
Mishra had earlier requested the Collector to renovate the road at the earliest.
“A day after my visit to Gumudumaha village, I had on July 16 requested the Kandhamal Collector to convert the muddy road connecting NH 57 at Mangapanga Chhak to Gumudumha into a pucca one in three months time. I had also demanded for setting up tube wells in the tribal village. The Collector has informed me that the road has been made motorable and would be made pucca soon. I welcome promptness of the Collector,” said Mishra in a statement.
The Collector has also informed Mishra that three tube-wells have already been set up in the village and electricity and other developmental activivites already taken up.
Notably, five innocent villagers, including a 13-month-old child, had been gunned down reportedly by SOG jawans on the said Mangapanga-Gumudumaha road on July 8 night. The villagers were stranded then as the auto-rickshaw failed move on the muddy road.
Mishra along with other Congress leaders had visited the village on July 15 to inquire into the incident and problems of the village.
