Irate agents and investors from Gujarat, duped by the chit fund firm Oscar, staged a demonstration in front of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) office of the State Crime Branch here on Saturday demanding return of their investments at the earliest.
The investors and agents also urged for stringent action against the directors of the dubious company.
They alleged that even though eleven months ago they had held a demonstration, there has been no substantial progress in the investigation of the case. Neither the Ollywood actors involved in promoting the company have been called for questioning by the EOW nor has any process begun to seize the properties of the company even after they had submitted the list of the branches and properties owned by the company in Gujarat.
From the day the company shut down its branches in Gujarat and stopped paying premium amounts of the deposits, the agents and investors are having a miserable time, they pointed out.
The agents and investors also demanded a CBI probe into the scam by the company and urged the State Government to expedite measures for refund of the investors’ money. It might be mentioned that the Oscar firm is alleged to have collected Rs 250 crore from the investors. The promoter of the company, Prabhas Das, is presently behind the bars after he was arrested by the Crime Branch from a temple in New Delhi, where he was hiding.
