Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday released a book REACT, a guide to women self defence at the Secretariat. The book has been published by city-based Utkal Karate School and authored by Senshai Hariprasad Pattanayak and Gouri Mohanty.
The Sports and Youth Services Department in association with the Home Department is organising self-defence training for girls at the Kalinga Stadium. Hariparasad Pattnaik and his students are teaching the campers about different tricks and martial art to overcome various odd situations which will be concluded on October 24.
A total of 550 girls of different colleges across the State will participated in 11 phases. Already two phase of students were completed their course. These trained girls will impart the skills to nearly 4 lakh girl students at the district level in order to empower them physically and mentally to counter any untoward incidents.
