The guard wall of an under-construction over-bridge constructed by the Panda Infra Private Limited near the district Collector’s office here collapsed on Thursday.
The guard wall fell off while being fitted to the over-bridge by two cranes. However, the labourers working at the site escaped unhurt.
According to an eyewitness, an iron guard wall was being fitted above a pillar of the ove- bridge suddenly snapped from the cranes and fell on the ground.
“The workers fitted the slab and they were tightening the bolts when one of the slabs came crashing down. Fortunately, the employees who were standing on the over-bridge for fitting the slab jumped off to save themselves when the structure fell down,” the eyewitness said.
The executing agency or the Public Works Department (PWD) officials are yet to comment on the issue.
Notably, Panda Infra is the company which was barred from the construction of Bomikhal flyover in Bhubaneswar after a section of the bridge collapsed killing one person and injuring 15 labourers.
