The GST, Central Excise and Customs, Bhubaneswar Zone observed Swachhta Pakhwada from August 16 to 31. Chief Commissioner R Mangababu inaugurated the event on August 16 amid presence of officers and staff of the office who took a Swachhta pledge. Thereafter, as per the day-wise Swachhta plan, the Swachhta Pakhwada was observed among all offices of the zone.The activities undertaken include solid waste disposal, cleaning of office space, segregation of redundant files, collection of e-waste and beach cleaning etc. Senior officers interacted with all the cleaning and hygiene staff and individually sensitised to practise hygiene and Swachhta in personal life. The Chief Commissioner and all other senior officers also participated in 'Shramdaan' works by way of cleaning the office campus. On weekend days, plantation in the campus garden/park was undertaken.
An article writing competition was organised during the Swachhta Pakhwada wherein school and college students, and officers of various Government, private and PSUs enthusiastically participated. Also, Customs officers at Paradip voluntarily cleaned the beach in load area. Principal Commissioner BK Kar, Commissioner AS Ranga and senior officers were present.
