At least 12 people were injured and around 15 thatched houses were set on fire as two groups clashed at Kaloragiri village under the Balichandrapur police station in Jajpur district on Sunday afternoon. To control the situation, a platoon of police force has been deployed in and around the village. The situation is now under control, said Balichandrapur PS IIC Pabitra Moharana.
“On Sunday afternoon, a villager was attacked by another villager over a community property dispute. This incident sparked tension among two groups. Mobs from both the groups started attacking each other in which 12 people were injured severely. They too burnt 15 thatched houses, added the police.
According to information, some of the injured persons were immediately taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.“Police are investigating the case. All the accused persons would be arrested,” added the police officer.
