As many as 30 persons were injured, including six critically, in a violent clash between the residents of two villages in Krushanprasad block in Brahmagiri of Puri district on Tuesday.

Both the groups hurled bombs and also fired bullets during the faceoff between Baghamunda and Sipakuda villages. Sources said both the sides hurled more than 100 crude bombs during the clash over construction of a jetty on a patch of Government land in Kianasi.

Some villagers of Baghamunda alleged as many as 20 boats were allegedly set ablaze by residents of Sipakuda. Sources said villagers of Sipakuda have been opposing the jetty construction which is the main reason behind the violent clash.

However, reports said police have failed to enter the area due to the intensity of the clash.
