Chairman of the prestigious environmental protection organisation Green World Nrupesh Nayak was felicitated here on the occasion of the 127th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at a function organised by the Odisha Union of Working Journalists and patriotic organisation Samar Kranti Sena.
The distinguished guests on the occasion like former minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai and former bureaucrat Bijay Patnaik eulogised Nayak for his efforts in providing a green cover to the capital city of Bhubaneswar.
Notably, Nayak with his just over a decade-old organisation has planted over one lakh saplings inside the city and its peripheral zone. “Green World does not merely plant a sapling but also takes care by providing tree guards and by fulfilling all other requirements till the sapling becomes free from danger. In this way, we have achieved 80% success in our attempts to make the city green,” said Nayak to the assembled audience while replying to the ovation.
Besides, Nayak has also a bird sanctuary established at Konark which is visited by tourists from India and abroad.
