The Green Cooling Tower Solutions, a USA-based company, has made offers for establishment of its patented innovative energy-saving Green Cooling Towers (GCT) in big industries in Odisha.
At a Press conference held here recently, its country director Dr Ambuj Mohapatra said the industries would save energy and money if establish GCTs instead of general cooling towers. The Citgo Refineries in louisiana, USA which established a 2-cell GCT could save USD 2,11,394 per annum with regard to expenditure on electricity and maintenance. The Citgo has since then taken its existing 6-cell tower offline and saved 400 HP permanently, he informed.
One of the unique features of the new GCT technology is that it powers cooling power fan not by electricity, but by existing the pressurized water flow already available within circulation system. It doesn’t use fan motor, gearbox, switchgear, grease point and transformer and, hence, saves huge expenses on power consumption. It is currently the most energy efficient and cost effective industrial cooling technology available in the world, claimed Mohapatra.
He further stated that a GCT can be installed in Greenfield project or as a replacement for existing conventional cooling tower. Many Indian companies like NTPC, IOCl, NFl, Tata Power have already shown interest in GCT technology, he said.
