The Rajya Sabuja Patrikadhari Urnayana Parisad on Friday urged nearly seven lakh green card holders’ families  in the State to vote for the Congress candidates in the lok Sabha and Assembly polls due on April 17 as the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) in its election manifesto has assured of providing a Rs500 monthly incentive to them.

Parisad general secretary Debaraj Nayak in a Press release said neither former Chief Minister JB Patnaik during his 14 years rule nor the current Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the last 14 years have given any importance to the issues of the green card holders.“Though the then Chief Minister Janaki Ballav Patnaik had assured financial assistance to green card holders whose spouses happen to be a State Government servant, no such provision was ensured for the green card holders who are not Government servants.

“Since the State Congress under the leadership of PCC president Jayadev Jena and Union Minister Srikant Jena has assured in its manifesto to ensure a Rs500 monthly incentive to the green card holders, besides other benefits, we urge all the card holders to vote for its candidate,” said Nayak.
