Pressing for their long standing 10-point charter of demands, about 100 woman green card holders here under the banner of Odisha Sabuja Patrika Mahila Mahasangha staged road blockades at three places near the Duhuria Chowk on Cuttack-Chandbali road.
The agitators alleged that while the State Government has been providing several benefits to other cardholders, it has failed to fulfill their genuine demands despite repeated assurances from the Chief Minister on several occasions. Their demands included Rs 1,000 per month as financial assistance, job to a family member, land to the landless and benefits under the BPl scheme, among others. The women green cardholders threatened to boycott coming elections if their demands were not fulfilled.
