Gram Rakshis under the banner of the Nikhil Utkal Grama Rakshi Mahasangha called off their demonstration, which they staged in front of the State Assembly for three days, on Friday and announced to boycott the coming elections and oppose the BJD as the Government didn’t pay any heed to their five legitimate demands.
The members alleged the State Government is not regularising them despite repeated requests. “We have been working for decades. It has been very difficult to manage families at monthly allowance of Rs 1800 only. Injustice is being done to us,” alleged Gram Rakshis.
Mentioning that the Gram Rakhis in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal have been enrolled as grade-IV employees and are given other allowances, they demanded that the State Government regularise them soon in Grade-IV posts soon.
Mahasangha president Amareshwar Mallick urged Gram Rakshis to boycott the upcoming elections and oppose the BJD.
