Corruption charge against Jamgaon Sarpanch in Jharsuguda was leveled over delaying developmental projects of the region. Demanding high level enquiry, a written allegation was submitted on September 19 in the grievance cell of the district Collector, who assured to inquire into the matter within seven days.
As no inquiry was done till date, Deputy Sarpanh Mahandra Sai and Ward No 3 member Ranjan Sai have started fast-unto- death in the Panchayat office premises. On Wednesday morning, Additional Tehsildar Birasen Behera assured that inquiry may be done within 8-10 days.
During tenure of Executive Officer Dillip Barik, funds were withdrawn for the cycle and dress cost of peons. Besides, rice and POl have not been distributed to 21 persons in his tenure. likewise, no culvert was constructed although funds were raised through voucher payment under NREGS scheme. Funds also were raised for drinking water project of Jamgaon village, but without any tank or motor available.
Naib Sarpanch Mahendra Sai also said that funds under Harischandra Yojana have been misutilised. Further, Ward Member Ranjan was brutally attacked for filing complaint for a high level inquiry. An FIR in this regard has been filed in Rengali Police Station. The monthly meeting of the Panchayat is also not being held in time, Mahendra added.
When contacted, EO Nimei Neti replied that he had taken over from March 2015. However, although he has sent the estimate for different works to Junior Engineer, the work is continuing without the concerned file sent back to him for approval.
