The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Brahmapur, on Friday convicted former Secretary, Mathura Grama Panchayat, Khalikote and at present VlW-cum-SEO, Polosora, Abhiram Jena and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years.
He was also asked to pay fine of Rs 50,000 and in default, undergo RI for a period of six months for the offence, while in another case, he is to undergo RI for 3 years and pay fine of Rs 30,000, while in default, he will have to undergo RI for three months.
It relates to a Brahmapur Vigilance case registered and charge sheeted against Jena for misappropriating rice worth Rs 5,85,648 received under Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) during the period 2005-06.
