Hundreds of students of the Seranga gram panchayat under Gumma block in Gajapati district are facing a lot of problems due to the e-admission system in plus II and plus III as they do not have easy access to internet facility, alleged former Panchayat Samiti member Biraga Kesari limba.
He said after introduction of the e-admission system by the Higher Education Department last year, students are finding it difficult to apply on-line due to lack of internet service. A maximum number of students are depending on Parlakhemindi and Kasi Nager colleges, he informed.
Most villages of the block are in interior areas without proper communication facilities. Almost all students are from poor and illiterate families. So it is a heavy work for them to go for internet service at distant places.
“I had given a written complainant in the District Collector Grievance Cell six month ago but in vain,” he added. Whereas in 2012, the State Government had ordered all District Collectors especially in the backward and Maoist- affected areas to take immediate action on the grievances of the people, this is not happening in case of the Gajapati people, limba lamented.
Expressing concern over the lack of primary facilities in their studies in the rural areas, he said the State Government is spending crores of rupees for better education in the State but students of Gumma block are suffering.
