The Chandragiri police on Saturday arrested and forwarded to court one Sankar Mandal, a clerk of a girls’ ashram school running under lanzia Saura Development Agency at Gajapati district’s Baghamari, on the charge of raping a Class VIII student.Mandal committed the crime on April 23 and tried to suppress the matter. The incident came to fore after the girl was admitted at the Chandgiri Hospital in a critical condition.“We have arrested the accused and forwarded him to court. Investigation is on,” said Chandgiri outpost officer Purna Chandra Behera.
