Vigilance officers on Tuesday arrested Horticulture Overseer Bijay Kumar Sahu at Mohana block in Gajapati district for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 15,000.
Sahu had demanded the bribe from one Santosh Mohakud of P Gobindpur village at Mohana block for issue of a cheque.
Mohakud alleged that he availed subsidy amount of Rs 35,000 for mango plantation in 2014-2015. In the current year, he was supposed to get Rs 28,000 as subsidy from the Horticulture Department for fencing of the mango garden. He repeatedly approached Sahu for issue of the cheque but he did not listen and demanded the bribe.
On Mohakud's complaint, a trap was laid and Bijay Kumar Sahu caught red-handed by Vigilance officers at his office-cum-rented house.
