The World Day against Child labour-2013 was observed at the IGOSA children home at Singipur in Kasinagar block jointly by the Gajapati district administration, labour Department, National Child labour Project and legal Services Authority.

Inaugurating the event, district Collector Basudev Bahinipati warned that whoever would engage children below 14 years for any purpose would face stringent legal action.  He also urged parents not to send or engage their children for earning money and, instead, should take Government help to ensure a good career and life for their children.

District and Sessions Court Sub-Judge DK Biswal said a total of 60 National Child labour Protection (NClP) schools are opened in the district where rescued and rehabilitated child labourers are residing and pursuing studies free of cost, besides being given free food.

District labour Officer Muktilal Nayak said the district labour department has so far filed cases against 36 persons in court and collected fines from the law violators in connection with engaging children as labourers in the current year.
