The Odisha Durneeti Sangharsa Mancha has appraised the Panchayati Raj Department about various corruptions allegedly occurred in various development works in Marthapur gram panchayat under Khordha district’s Balipatna block.

In the letter sent to the department Secretary on Tuesday, the Manch said it has received complaints from people of Marthapur gram panchayat regarding corruption in various developmental works.

Though an amount of Rs 1 lakh was provided from the TFC Fund for a road to Giri Gobardhan Mandap, but no road has been constructed and a fake bill made.

The money has been misappropriated with the knowledge of the JE, the EO and the Sarapanch, alleged Manch.

Similarly, under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, Rs 3 lakh was provided for construction of a road from the GP to Aisaneswar Temple. But people alleged that while only about 50-feet-long road with two inch metal concrete made, bill has been made for the entire amount.

Besides, Rs25,000 had been sanctioned in 2013-14 from the GP fund for colouring of the Marthapur panchayat building, but a fake bill was made without work. Similarly, Rs1.20 lakh was provided for the Talapadia-Harijan Padia drain renovation, a huge portion of it has been bungled.

The Manch demanded a Vigilance probe into the irregularities.
