The State Government has issued fresh guidelines and cautioned people about the Covid-19 virus with its new strain, which is said to be more lethal and highly-contagious than the older one.
In an advisory, the Health and Family Welfare Department has asked people to follow Covid rules properly to prevent contracting the new variant even though the situation has remained under control in the State.
The new strain has emerged with more new symptoms. People diagnosed with the newer strain may report fever, nausea, vomiting, body ache, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, sore throat and nasal congestion. The major cause of concern is that the new variant of the Covid-19 virus can remain alive on the dry object for around eight days. It can enter the human body so easily than the older one. The Government has suggested people to take the vaccine shot when their turn comes. Even after taking the vaccine, continue to wear mask, wash hand frequently and maintain physical distance and avoid public gathering, it said.“We should remain very careful and cautious to ensure appropriate Covid norms in school, colleges, temple and markets,” department said in a statement. As there is no travel restriction, many people are coming to Odisha from high-risk States.
The Government has advised people coming from outside to remain under home isolation for seven days. People with any of Covid symptom should get themselves tested as soon as possible and take medical advice, the Health Department said.
